I looked for months for any sort of info to identify an unusual annelid I had found. Then, while flipping through my old Pond Life book, looking up another subject- there it was: Dero vaga! “Deros are tube builders, common in debris or on floating leaves. From 0.3 to 0.5 inch long. Bristly body ends in finger like projections.” There was a nice illustration and a scale to show size. To my surprise, I found that this book has great illustrations of a large assortment of common microorganisms including algae, diatoms, and more, all with excellent descriptions. This book is a classic, and a handy “must have” reference for beginners and students. My copy was published in 1967 and cost $1.25 back then.
